The formula
Worked example
At ₹799 with 5% GST the price without GST is ₹761. With a ₹350 cost, 12% commission, 2% collection fee, ₹20 fixed fee, ₹60 shipping fee and an 8% return rate at ₹100 (₹8), the profit is about ₹211 per unit, or 27.7% of the sale price without GST. The break-even price is about ₹539.
Understanding your result
Collection fee is charged on the selling price, so a higher price raises it. Use the break-even price as a floor when running offers.
When to use it
- Price a new listing.
- Check whether a sale event still leaves a profit.
- Compare Flipkart with another marketplace.
Assumptions and limits
Storage, packaging, income tax and overheads are not included unless you add them to the product cost. Marketplace fees, GST rules and tax rates change and differ by category. The values pre-filled here are samples only. Replace them with the figures from your own rate card and settlement report.
