The formula
Worked example
A 320 km trip each way is 640 km in total. At 15 km/l and ₹100 a litre the fuel costs ₹4,267. Adding ₹450 tolls and ₹200 parking gives ₹4,917, or about ₹1,229 each for 4 people.
Understanding your result
The chart shows how much of the cost is fuel and how much is tolls and parking. Enter tolls for the whole journey, not for each direction, unless that is how you pay.
When to use it
- Plan a family or friends trip budget.
- Share car costs fairly with colleagues.
- Compare driving with train or bus tickets.
Assumptions and limits
Costs of vehicle wear, insurance, driver allowance and food are included only if you enter them in "Parking and other costs".
