In-depth guide
How the days are counted
By default the calculator counts the days from the start date up to the end date. If you tick the option to count both dates, one more day is added. This matters for things like leave, hotel stays and notice periods, where both the first and last day count.
Days and weeks for common spans
| Days | Weeks and days |
|---|---|
| 30 | 4 weeks 2 days |
| 45 | 6 weeks 3 days |
| 60 | 8 weeks 4 days |
| 90 | 12 weeks 6 days |
| 100 | 14 weeks 2 days |
| 180 | 25 weeks 5 days |
| 365 | 52 weeks 1 days |
Leap years
A year has 366 days if it is divisible by 4, except century years, which must be divisible by 400. So 2024 and 2028 are leap years, 1900 is not, and 2000 was. The calculator uses the real calendar, so leap days are counted automatically.
Weekdays and weekends
The result also splits the span into weekdays (Monday to Friday) and weekend days (Saturday and Sunday). Public holidays and regional weekly offs are not removed. For working days with your own holidays use the Working Days Calculator.
Typical uses
- Counting days to an exam, trip or event.

- Age in days and anniversaries.
Assumptions and limits
Public holidays and regional weekly offs are not removed. Gaps are limited to 100 years. For years, months and days use the Date Difference Calculator.
